Welcome to The Lilac Dispatch Blog!
A little about me: I’ve been travelling around South America for the last two years and documenting all the best things to do, stay, eat and experience in this region, whilst working full time as a digital nomad.
I was already documenting everything on my notes app and Google maps to suggest recommendations to friends and family when they ultimately ask me “Hey Pegs, where’s the best part of [X city] to stay in? Thinking of visiting for a couple of weeks!”
I thought to myself, why not have a dedicated blog page about this for everyone to access? I’ve got far more experience than most, having lived like a local in each of these countries.
With this blog, I hope to share both the must-see destinations and the hidden places beyond the tourist trail. Alongside trusted recommendations and travel guides, I want to share the overlooked towns, quiet corners, and off-the-beaten-path experiences that made me fall in love with travelling through this continent

Hello!
I’m Peggy, and I’ve been travelling in-depth around South America for over two years whilst working remotely full time.
I left for my first SA trip as a solo female traveller in 2024 and never looked back. Since then, I’ve lived in Colombia for over a year, travelled to Peru and Ecuador, and am now based in Brazil.
I love slowing down, visiting off-the-beaten-path locations and discovering some of the best recommendations the internet doesn’t know about (yet!)
